Pati Patni Aur Woh

The 1978 romantic comedy Pati Patni Aur Woh was an iconic Bollywood laugh riot starring Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha, and Ranjeeta Kaur. The film was produced and directed by B. R. Chopra and also featured Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Singh and Parveen Babi in guest appearances. The remake of this film is now underway and it will star Bollywood younguns Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, and Ananya Panday in the lead roles.

The original film was about married man Ranjeet (Sanjeev) who has a soft corner for his secretary Nirmala (Ranjeeta). The modern retelling of the classic Pati Patni Aur Woh comedy is directed by Mudassar Aziz. It will instead follow the story of “adarshwadi” Chintu Tyagi who finds himself torn between his wife and another woman. Kartik Aaryan of Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety fame will play the ordinary, middle-class man. Bhumi Pednekar who made her breakout debut with Dum Laga Ke Haisha and recently starred in the box office hit Saand Ki Aankh will play the role of Tyagi’s high-maintenance wife. Student of the Year 2 star Ananya Panday, on the other hand, plays his colleague and second love interest Tapasya.

Chintu Tyagi, frustrated after being married off at an early age, seems to be looking for an extra romantic spark which he finds with his colleague Tapasya. As he tries to juggle between his wife and new love interest, the comedic antics ensue. The trailer also stars Kartik’s Luka Chuppi co-star Aparshakti Khurana. Check out the trailer
