Why Gauri Khan wanted Shah Rukh Khan’s film to fail
When asked if she was supporting Shah Rukh like a rock from behind, Gauri denied it and said, “Well, not really.” She continued, “Because I wasn’t very happy about him coming to Bombay. In fact, I didn’t even know when he became a star.” It was my first time coming here, and the movie too. Everything was very shocking. It was very, very difficult. I actually didn’t want his film to be successful. I thought if it failed, I should go back to Delhi. Because , because you were so young and I got married at 21. The movie, how, what happens, everything was so new. For me, nothing should be done and everything will fail. I thought it had to end.”
“What shocked us when his movies were doing well, I didn’t even know what was going on,” she said. “So, you just forget. So Deewana did well, and when we realized it was Dilwale. It was amazing. When did he become a big star? I didn’t even know what it was.”
Shah Rukh was always highly ambitious, Gauri said. “Ever since childhood, school, college, he was always at the top in whatever field he touched, whether it was soccer, hockey, anything he touched, theater.” For me, everything he touches is gold. “I think I was smart to choose the right guy. I’m lucky to have him,” she said with a laugh.
After ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’, Shah Rukh Khan is currently gearing up to release his third film ‘Dunki’ this year.
