A cargo ship is hijacked on the treacherous seas of Somalia in this upcoming thriller on Disney+ Hotstar. Directed by Jai Mehta and Hansal Mehta on board as showrunners, Looter It will premiere on the streaming service starting next month. Check out the first teaser from the drama show!
Lootele will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar from May
The tense moments before the capture of the Indian cargo ship are captured in the first teaser of Lootere. On Instagram, Disney+ Hotstar posted, “Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! #HotstarSpecials #Lootere streaming March 22nd only on @disneyplushotstar.”
Rajat Kapoor plays a ship captain who has to make quick decisions as Somali pirates plan to hijack his ship. The series also stars Vivek Gomber, Amruta Khanvilkar and Aamir Ali. From the looks of the drama show, it is reminiscent of the 2013 Oscar-nominated film. Captain Phillips in which the main roles were performed by Tom Hanks and Barhad Abdi. Looter The drama series promises to be a “game of life and death”, suggesting that the stakes will be quite high.
About the cast and crew of Lootere
The creator Shaailesh R Singh has created several features like Tanu meets Manu, Shahid, Aligarh, Omerta and Thalaivi. He is also a producer of upcoming films Lady killer and Ded Bhiga Zamen. Singh has often collaborated Looter Showrunner Hansal Mehta, including award-winning features Shahid and Aligarh. Last year, Hansal worked on a critically acclaimed web series the scoop and Fraud 2003: The Abdul Telgi Story.
Hansal’s son Jai Mehta worked with his father on the SonyLIV series Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. The lead star Rajat Kapoor was also cast as Pratik Gandhi Fraud 1992. He has also acted in web series Call my agent: Bollywood, Tanaav, Jehanabad – Love and War.
