‘Bhaiyya Ji’ Box Office Collection Day 3: Manoj Bajpayee’s action film was a massive success over the weekend and has grossed Rs 5 crore in India so far.
After the success of “Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai,” filmmaker Apur Singh and actor Manoj Bajpai have teamed up again for Bajpai’s 100th film, “Bhaiyya Ji,” which premiered in theatres on Friday. After a modest opening, The film is on the rise at the box office. Sakhnirukh said the film earned Rs 19 crore on its third day of release, taking its total domestic collection to Rs 5 crore.
On Sunday, Bhaiyya Ji recorded an overall occupancy of 12.77 percent among Hindi shows and the highest occupancy among afternoon screenings. The highest number of screenings was in the National Capital Region (NCR), with an occupancy of 12 percent, while Mumbai, which has 326 screens, recorded an occupancy of 12.25 percent.
Despite huge expectations among Manoj Bajpayee fans, “Bhaiyya Ji” got off to a moderate start at the box office on Friday, collecting Rs 1.3 crore. The film had its biggest weekend ever, growing 29.63% to Rs 1.75 crore on Saturday and further increasing to Rs 1.90 crore on Sunday. However, it remains to be seen whether the film will pass the crucial test on Monday.
Bajpaiyi’s last theatrical release was 2023’s “Joram”, which despite receiving rave reviews from critics and winning the Filmfare Best Film award, grossed just Rs 45 crore at the Indian box office. In comparison, Rajkumar Rao’s “Srikanth” also released this month, which grossed Rs 117 crore in three days.
“Bhaiyya Ji” is one of the few films in which Manoj Bajpai stars in a completely mainstream action masala film, a genre quite different from his usual repertoire. Despite high expectations, the film received mixed reviews from critics. Shalini Langer of The Indian Express gave the film half a star.He said, “This time, Kalki and Bajpai have gone literal. ‘Bhaiyya Ji’ has it all. Kaafi or not, that’s it. A rare marvel in the world of filmmaking, director and co-writer Kalki has made a film that audiences can enjoy any time they want, without having to worry about a beginning, middle or end.
