Tiger 3 Movie Review & Movie Overview (2023)
“Tiger 3” is an excellent sequel and most similar to “Tiger Zinda Hai,” a strangely sunny hostage thriller set in modern-day Iraq. Unfortunately, Tiger and Zoya’s diplomatic antics now seem predictable right down to the introduction of this new film. Zoya teams up with a disgruntled ex-spy and Pakistani terrorist, Aatish Rehman (Emraan Hashmi), to plot against her own prime minister.
This time, Tiger is trying not only to promote good relations between the two countries, but also to keep his family intact. This superficially personal twist greatly enhances Tiger 3’s box-ticking appeal, which includes Shah Rukh Khan’s extended cameo and a slew of Hollywood-honed story beats and clichés. It does not increase or decrease.
“Tiger 3” begins with as much cornball swag as the live-action “GI Joe” cartoons. Tiger embarks on a solo rescue mission at the personal request of Maithili Menon (Revati), the no-nonsense head of the Indian spy agency’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). Tiger pulls off a seemingly impossible mission and rescues former RAW director Gopi Arya (Ranvir Shorey). Instead, Gopi implicated Zoya as a double agent for Pakistan just before she ran out of breath seconds after Zoya and Tiger returned to India.
Zoya’s past then flashes back, but this does not explain Gopi’s accusations. Next is a mediocre musical number where Tiger questions whether he can trust Zoya through song. Then more story set-ups and coughs are made to support the plot against his wife and son Junior (Sartaj Kakkar). There are few surprises along the way, but at one point Salman Khan disguises himself with a red hippie sweatband and a bushy beard. Tiger dramatically sheds his beard before fighting his wife. They then make up and plan to take down Lehman together.
