The Monsterverse holds up well on Monday; An inch closer to the Rs 50 crore mark
‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’, the current No. 1 film in the world, has tightened its grip at the Indian box office. The film, which debuted in theaters over the extended Easter weekend, cemented its place at the top with a strong collection on Monday.
The film, a sequel to Godzilla vs Kong, has grossed an estimated net revenue of Rs 5.50 crore, according to preliminary estimates on Sacnilk.com. The film earned a larger margin of revenue from ticket sales in its original English-language format. The Hindi dubbed version earned an estimated Rs 1.6 crore, while the Telugu dubbed version earned Rs 60,000, and the Tamil dubbed version earned Rs 85,000.
This, coupled with the weekend collections of Rs 39 crore, pushed the film’s total collection to an estimated Rs 44.55 crore. The English version of the film has collected an estimated total of Rs 19.5 crore, while the Hindi dubbed version has collected an estimated total of Rs 12.35 crore.
“Godzilla x Kong” topped the North American box office in its first weekend, grossing a whopping $80 million. The film also beat all rivals in the Indian markets, including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kriti Sanon’s new film “Crew”, to register the highest collection of the weekend.
In just its first week, the film is on track to beat the collections of 2021’s “Godzilla vs Kong.” The film recorded the biggest opening weekend for the Monsterverse series. It is also the biggest opening weekend for a Hollywood film in India in 2024.
