After Kate Middleton revealed that she was suffering from cancer following mounting speculation about her whereabouts and health, many took to social media to react to the news.
In a video posted on social media on Friday, the Princess of Wales explained: “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time it was thought my condition was not cancerous. The surgery was successful. “But tests after the operation found cancer,” the Princess of Wales said in a video update posted on social media. She started a course of preventive chemotherapy.
“This has of course been a huge shock, and William and I are doing everything we can to address and manage this privately for the sake of our little family,” Middleton said in the video. “As you can imagine, this has taken time. It took some time for me to recover from major surgery and to begin my treatment. But most importantly, we took time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that was right for them and to reassure them that I would be OK.” .
Following the announcement, Shannen Doherty, Katie Couric, Maria Shriver and Olivia Munn were among those who took to social media to react to the news.
Doherty, who is suffering from stage 4 breast cancer, took to Instagram on Friday evening, noting that she admires Middleton’s strength through the “endless attacks you took while you had cancer.” She wrote, in part, “Being a public figure does not mean the public owns that person. We all have the right to maintain our privacy during illness or life.
Couric, who revealed her breast cancer diagnosis in September 2022, honored Middleton by writing on social media, “Catherine, Princess of Wales, revealed on Friday that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is receiving preventive chemotherapy. As someone who has suffered from cancer, I was deeply touched by her comments. Send her and her family healing ideas.”
Shriver expressed her hope that everyone would now leave Middleton alone and “allow the privacy she and her family need.”
Moon, who recently revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, commented on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ Instagram post. “Thank you for showing me what it means to fight with grace and determination for yourself and your family. Wishing you all the best.”
Ivanka Trump wrote that she was “deeply saddened to learn of Princess Kate’s diagnosis.” “It’s frustrating to see the speculation surrounding her, especially at a time when support and kindness are so needed,” she continued.
