Actor Randeep Hooda’s directorial debut ‘Swatantriya Veer Shavalkar’ seems to have benefited from the Holi weekend. The film’s box office sales soared on Sunday, its opening day.
According to the makers, the film has collected Rs 2.75 billion on the third day. With this, the film’s box office collection in India reached Rs 6.1 billion. The film, which released simultaneously with Kunal Kemmu’s Madgaon Express, had an overall occupancy of 29.60 per cent on Sunday.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the latest box office figures for the film with X. Swatantriya Veer Savarkar is based on the life of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and stars Randeep Hooda in the title role. Ankita Lokhande of Bigg Boss 17 fame also plays an important role in the film.

The film was released on Friday to mixed reviews. In a book review, Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta said, “Randeep Hooda, who plays Savarkar, who is physically transformed in prison, with visible ribs and rotten teeth, bears an uncanny resemblance to his target. It is worthy of praise.” However, this one-dimensional nature of the film makes it noticeably one-sided and ultimately reductive. ”
