Vipul Shah has taken full responsibility for the failure of his 2010 film Action Replay, revealing that Akshay Kumar tried to fix one of his big creative decisions.
Actor Akshay Kumar was fresh off the success of ‘Housefull’ when his looks from his upcoming film ‘Action Replay’ were first unveiled to the public. According to Vipul Amrutlal Shah, director of Action Replay, that was the beginning of the audience’s disconnection from the film. In an interview with Vaad, Vipul said that while devising Akshay’s look, he expressed concerns about Vipul’s vision for Kishen Kumar Chopra, played by Akshay.
The filmmaker admitted that not paying attention to the actor’s advice led to great losses. He said in Hindi, “I have directed only one film with Akshay, Action Replay, but it didn’t go well.As a director, I realized that I don’t know how to properly direct a historical drama. It’s my fault and no one else’s fault. It was a failure as a director.”According to the director, another reason for the film’s failure at the box office was Akshay’s look in the film. That’s what it means. Vipul said that the audience cannot understand a good-looking guy with buck teeth like Akshay.

Action Replay was set in the 1970s and also starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aditya Roy Kapur. Although the film’s music was popular, it proved to be a critical and commercial failure.
