Production company Panorama Studios has announced that it has partnered with Gulfstream Pictures and Jotto Films for the Hollywood remake of the Drishyam series. Panorama Studios had already acquired the international remake rights for the first and second parts of Drishyam from Aashirvad Cinemas. While elated over the rare Hollywood remake of an Indian film, a section of the country’s state-run media still stubbornly refuses to accept the fact that Drishyam is a Malayalam creation.

As news of the Hollywood remake spread, many domestic media outlets started publishing images of actor Ajay Devgn from the film Drishyam and continued praising the actor for Hollywood to acquire the rights. Drishyam’s Hindi remake has become his one of the best blockbusters in the history of Bollywood and there is no denying that. However, since the film is originally in Malayalam, when Hollywood comes knocking at the door, it would be better to appreciate the authentic Malayalam version over the remake.

Many comments on social media have also criticized the national media for ignoring the original Malayalam version of Drishyam. Many are asking media portals to correct the news in clear terms so that viewers around the world can learn more about this film and its original work.
