Speaking at “Meer Ki Dilli, Shahjahanabad: The Evolving City” held here on Saturday, director Shah said that Hindi filmmakers have been making the same kind of films for the past 100 years. Ta.

“I am really disappointed that we are proud to say that Hindi cinema is 100 years old and yet we keep making the same films. I have stopped watching Hindi films. I don’t like it at all,” the 73-year-old said. .

Shah added that Indians around the world go to see Hindi movies because it connects them to their homeland, but soon everyone will get tired of it.

“Hindustani food is loved everywhere because it has substance. What substance does Hindi cinema have? Yes, it is seen everywhere… They say, ‘How exotic, how Indian, how colorful.’ You’ll get tired of it soon. There’s no substance,” the ‘Masoom’ actor said.

He believes it is the responsibility of “serious filmmakers” to show the reality of society.

“There is only hope for Hindi films if we stop looking at them as a means of making money. But I feel it is already too late. Films that are seen by thousands will continue to be made and people will God knows how long we’ll be looking at them.

“So, for those who want to make serious films, it is their responsibility to show today’s reality in such a way that no fatwa or ED comes knocking on their door,” said director Shah.
