But there was all this regressive content happening on TV at the same time, so I didn’t want to come out and try my luck in movies. I felt like giving it a try. Even though I was financially secure, I realized that I wasn’t sleeping well. I realized this when I fulfilled all my financial responsibilities to my parents and others.”

Speaking about his parents’ reaction when he decided to take a break from the TV show, the actor said: “My parents were shocked when I told them I was starting over with films. I was earning a lot of money. At the age of 24, I was earning a monthly salary of 3.5 million rupees, especially for someone from a middle-class background. I quit television when I signed a monthly contract of Rs 35 million. I decided to get a good job and find peace. My savings were depleted within a year. After that, my wife Sheetal (my girlfriend at the time) gave me some pocket money for the audition.”

Vikrant has appeared in television shows such as Dharam Veer (2008), Balika Vadhu (2009–2010), and Qubool Hai (2013). His latest film “12th Fail” is directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film is based on the non-fiction book by Anurag Pathak, which tells the moving story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame extreme poverty to become an Indian police officer.
