Exclusive first trailer for Sterben’s film with Lars Edinger – The Hollywood Reporter
Ready for another great performance from Lars Edinger, everyone’s favorite German eccentric (known for his work in… Personal shopper, Sils Maria clouds, White noiseAnd on and on)? Well, belt in for Sterben (death) by German director Matthias Glasner.
In the exclusive first trailer from The Match Factory (see below), Edinger plays Tom, a Berlin bandleader who has more than a few personal issues to deal with.
death is a rare new feature from Glassner, who, unlike his prolific star, kept his filmography tight. (His last film was in 2012 Grenade.) Judging by the trailer, and Glassner’s previous works, including the 2006 Silver Bear winner Free will, death It feels like another potent mix of melodrama, satirical humor and philosophical musings on the “big questions” of life and, given the title, death.
“The name of the piece… is ‘Death,’ and a high-ranking composer, played by Robert Goysdijk, conducts the orchestra.” “It doesn’t matter,” Tom objects. “Important!!” shouts Goysdijk.
The film features an all-star German cast, including Lilith Stangenberg (Wild), Saskia Rosendahl (knowledge), Hans Uwe Bauer (The lives of others), and Ronald Zuhrfeld (Barbara). Corinna Harfouche (Dropp off, Lara) plays Tom’s sharp-tongued mother.
death It will premiere in competition at the 74th Berlinale on Sunday, February 18. The Match Factory handles international sales.
