Republic Day 2024: Republic Day is celebrated on January 26 every year to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution. This important occasion is celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor across the country. An important event is the Republic Day parade held at New Delhi’s Rajpath (now known as Kartaviya Pass). Movie producers often choose to release their films during this time, and many of these films prove to be successful at the box office.

Here is the list of movies that released and dominated the box office ahead of the 75th Republic Day.

Pattern (2023)

Siddharth Anand co-wrote and directed the action-thriller film starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. Pathan also stars Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana in supporting roles. The film earned around Rs 1,055 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film ever released on Republic Day.

Chhapaak (2020)

The film is a biographical drama based on the story of acid assault survivor Lakshmi Agarwal. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film stars Deepika Padukone in the lead role along with Vikrant Massey and Madhurjeet Sargi. The film grossed more than Rs 5.55 billion at the worldwide box office.

Uri – Surgical Strike (2019)

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film also stars Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal, Kirti Kulhari and Mohit Raina in important roles. The film is a fictionalized depiction of the aftermath of the 2016 Uri attack. Uri earned around Rs 341.75 million worldwide.

Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi (2019)

It is a historical action drama film based on Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi. It was directed by Krish Jagarlamudi and starred Kangana Ranaut in the lead role. The film earned him over Rs 142 million worldwide and was produced by Zee Studios.

Padmaavat (2018)

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, it starred Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor. Although the film stirred controversy before its release, it grossed an impressive worldwide box office collection of around Rs 585 million.

Rays (2017)

Rahul Dholakia movie stars Shah Rukh Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mahira Khan. It was co-produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Excel Entertainment. The film grossed around Rs 285 million worldwide.

Carville (2017)

Kaabil hit the right notes with this storyline and execution. Directed by Sanjay Gupta. Hrithik Roshan, Yami Gautam, Ronit Roy and Rohit Roy starred in the film.

Airlift (2016)

A successful thriller film directed by Raja Krishna Menon, starring Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur. The film grossed around Rs 228 million worldwide.

Baby (2015)

Neeraj Pandey’s multi-starrer film will remain in our hearts for free rental. The film stars Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher, Rana Daggubati, Danny Denzongpa, Taapsee Panu, Kay Kay Menon, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Madhurima Tuli and Rashid Naz.

Jai Ho (2014) – January 24th

Directed by Suhail Khan, the film also stars Sana Khan, Sunil Shetty, Salman Khan, and Daisy Shain. ‘Jai Ho’ is a remake of his 2006 Telugu film ‘Stalin’ and grossed around Rs 186.37 crore worldwide.
