Prime Video’s Farzi Most Watched Hindi Web Show of 2023: The Report
New Delhi: Shahid Kapoor Farztopped the 2023 India charts as the most-watched Hindi web show with a staggering 37.1 million viewers, according to a report by media consulting firm Ormax. It was the first show of 2023 to cross 30 million viewers, making it the most watched SVoD series of all time in India.
Prime Video and Disney+ Hotstar each boasted six titles in the top 15, including graduate students (16.6 million), Dahad (16 million) and Made in heaven (15.7 million) Mumbai Diaries (15.2 million) and Bombay Mary Jaan (14.5 million) on Prime Video and night manager (28.6 million) and Taaza Khabar (23.5 million) Aria (17.2 million), freelancer (16.2 million), Court (15.6 million) and Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo (15.5 million) on Disney+ Hotstar.
JioCinema AVoD shows, Assyria 2 and Taal, entered the top five of the year. Includes the most watched unscripted web shows Big Boss OTT (19.5 million) on JioCinema and Coffee with Karan (15.4 million) on Hotstar.
Prime Video continued to dominate Hindi movies Bawaal (21.2 million), followed by JioCinema’s bloody father (17 million) and Hotstar’s Gulmohar (16.3 million). Netflix also made a major showing with six movies like jaan jaan and Mission Majnu, One Friday Night, Archies, Passion Stories 2, Kho Gay Hum Kahani and It’s closedEach of them crosses the threshold of 9 million viewers.
Prime Videos CitadelStarring Priyanka Chopra, it became the most watched international show of 2023 with 17 million viewers, more than 50% ahead of others. Extraction 2 and whose heartBoth on Netflix, were the only international films to garner more than 8 million views.
Ormax, which specializes in television and streaming analytics and consulting, has based its viewership estimates on first-hand research across India. These numbers represent individual viewers, counting every person who watched at least one full episode of a show or 30 minutes of a movie, regardless of account used. This method provides a unique audience count, even if several people are watching on the same account. An audience member is only counted once, even if they watch episodes over several weeks.
