Netflix has released a trailer for the live-action adaptation of Nickelodeon’s beloved animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. The long-awaited series consists of eight episodes.
The trailer centers around Aang, portrayed by Gordon Cormier, an Avatar tasked with mastering the four elements – water, earth, fire and air – to stop the Fire Nation that threatens to destroy the world. Aang’s friends Katara (Kiaventio) and Sokka (Ian Owsley) play a crucial role in helping him realize his power and embark on a journey to save the world.

The official synopsis for the series reads: “Along with his newfound friends, Sokka and Katara, siblings, and members of the Southern Water Tribe, Aang embarks on a fantastical, action-packed quest to save the world and fight against the terrifying onslaught of the Fire Lord. Ozai. But if Prince Zuko is determined to capture them, it won’t be an easy task.”
The cast also includes Dallas Liu as Zuko, Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as General Iro, Casey Kemp-Horinek as Grand Gran, Arden Cho Jun as Suki, Sebastian Amoruso as Jet, Utkar. Ambudkar as King Boom, and Danny Pudd as the Mechanic.
Originally announced in 2018, the adaptation faced a change when the show’s original creators left in 2020, citing creative differences. Since then, announcements about the series have been slow. Finally, Avatar: The Last Airbender is set to premiere on Netflix on February 22nd.
