Sundance Film Fest reveals slate of films, speakers and programming – The Hollywood Reporter
Focus continues on the schedule for the 40th Sundance Film Festival. The beloved Utah event — scheduled for January 19-26 in Park City — revealed Beyond Film’s programming lineup and revealed that the documentary The greatest night in popa behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the iconic song “We Are the World,” will be part of this year’s programme.
Beyond Film’s lineup of speakers includes notable figures from films participating in this year’s festival such as Steven Soderbergh (Presence), Jesse Eisenberg (Real pain), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Rob peace), Sue Bird (Sue Bird: In the clutch), De Rees (forsaken), Lucy Lawless (Never look away), Andre Holland (Show forgiveness), Debra Granik (Conbody against everyone), Jay Ellis (Freaky tales(Nzinga Stewart)I / We).
The list also includes a conversation within New Frontier, which supports artists working at the crossroads of film, art, performance, and new media. Titled “The New Frontier: Let’s Redesign AI!”, the chat featured Rashad Newsom and New Frontier alumni Navid Khonsari, Ari Melenciano, and Sandra Rodriguez.
Other highlights include the return of Sundance alumni such as Miguel Arteta (Beatrice at dinner)Richard Linklater (Assassin), Dawn Porter (Luther: Never too much(Christine Vachon)different man), all of whom will participate in “The Power of Story: Four Decades of Taking Chances,” a conversation about their careers in independent films, the legacy of storytelling and the importance of taking risks.
Director Bao Nguyen will be unveiled The greatest night in pop About the 1985 essential track featuring 46 icons including Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Cyndi Lauper, Diana Ross and Stevie Wonder. After the screening, there will be an extended conversation with Nguyen, producer Julia Nottingham, and producer and star Lionel Richie.
In addition to Power of Story and Cinema Café presented by Audible and The Big Conversation, the lineup includes a New Frontier talk on artificial intelligence and a slate of events to celebrate the 40th edition. With the exception of Power of Story, all Beyond Film events are free and open to the public.
