France’s Three Continents Festival will feature a section titled “Amitabh Bachchan, Big B Forever,” which will screen nine films from the 1970s and 1980s starring the legendary actor.
A film retrospective of Indian film icon Amitabh Bachchan will be held at the 45th French Three Continents Festival, organizers announced on Monday. The film gala will be shown in Nantes from November 24th to December 3rd.
The corner titled Amitabh Bachchan, Big B Forever will feature legendary actors Trishul, Amar Akbar Anthony, Satte Pe Satta, Sholai, Don, Kabhi Kabhe, Deewar, Kala Patthar and Abhimaan. Nine films from the 1970s and 1980s in which he starred will be screened.

This retrospective is organized in partnership with the Film Heritage Foundation (FHF) and with the support of the French Embassy in India.
Amitabh Bachchan He said he was pleased to hear that the FHF would co-screen nine of his early films at the Tricontinent Festival, “one of the oldest and most respected film festivals.”
“Many of these films gave me the opportunity to play diverse characters and work with some of the most important filmmakers of the time, including Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Manmohan Desai, Yash Chopra and Ramesh Sippy. I hope that the audience at the film festival can enjoy the many works that continue to bring great joy to viewers even half a century after their creation. However, I am happy that my daughter Shweta will be representing me in Nantes and participating in the festival,” the 81-year-old star said in a statement.
FHF Director Shivendra Singh Dungarpur said he was proud to have the foundation’s name associated with the ‘Amitabh Bachchan, Big B Forever’ retrospective. On Bachchan’s 80th birthday last year, the Mumbai-based organization also hosted a four-day national event, ‘Bachchan Back to the Beginning’.
“We screened an eclectic selection of Indian classics at last year’s festival’s Indian Autumn Stream and saw an enthusiastic response to the films from festival audiences.
“I would like to thank the festival’s artistic director, Jerome Baron, for giving me the opportunity to screen nine Amitabh Bachchan films from 1973 to 1982, when Mr. Bachchan was at the peak of his career, at the festival again this year. 2019,” Dungarpur said.

Jérôme Baron, artistic director of the Three Continents Festival, said the film gala was inspired by combining a curiosity about contemporary cinema with classic films.
“And Amitabh Bachchan is truly the living iconic embodiment of the connection between the past and present of popular Hindi cinema, continuing a career that began 50 years ago. He is a unique performer on screen, “He’s a character that no other actor has played before, including in the history of European cinema,” Baron added.
The Festival des Three Continents will also host the world premiere of French filmmaker Cedric Dhupia’s 68-minute experimental documentary on Amitabh Bachchan, The Real Superstar.
