Jawan became his highest-grossing film of 2023, followed closely by Pasaan. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala said Mr. Pattern, Mr. Jawan and Mr. Dhanki had combined for a staggering $117 million in global profits.
The confrontation between Danki and Salar attracted a lot of attention. In an interview with ANI, Rajkumar Hirani spoke about the impact of box office collection on the audience. He emphasized that while bad reviews can have a temporary impact, a film’s true reputation should be judged based on its content, not just its financial success.
He said, “I still think the barometer by which I judge a film is… Joe debate, honi chahie paiso se zayada film ki honi chahie, film ke content se hone. I feel it should be ragi hai. Thoda sa hum ye paiso se karne raage hai, ye nahi peere, ye soda sa bad gaya hai abhi. (Discussions surrounding movies should be more about the content than the money. These days, we focus a little more on the money.) In the past, we used to innocently go to the movies. We used to talk about movies, but now we’re talking more about numbers.”
