Hollywood seduces a singing plumber whose life story is made into a movie

A Hollywood film that details the story of a singing plumber from Leicestershire on his way to becoming a reality. The film tells the story of Quorn’s 51-year-old Kev Crane, who landed a life-changing record deal after he was caught using his amazing collection of pipes while fixing a client’s bathroom.

Kev’s passion for music began at an early age and he realized he had a talent at the age of 18 when he performed for his piano teacher. He also sang in bands in the early part of his life, but decided to give up singing at the age of 30 and later ventured into plumbing after losing his job in the 2008 financial crisis.




However, Cave said his passion for music was reignited during the coronavirus lockdown in 2020, when he was discovered by a record label producer. “I started writing again and turned the basement into a recording studio,” he said in an interview with LeicestershireLive.

“People started going back to work in June of the following year, and I got a call out of the blue from a woman who wanted me to offer her the cost of three bathrooms.”

Kev got the job and one day while he was working, he started singing on the radio, which caught the attention of his client’s neighbour, Paul Connelly, owner of New Reality Records in Loughborough. “I told him I had written an album and he wanted to listen to it,” he said.

“Two days later he came over and told me he liked my voice and wanted to release the album under his record label.”

Kevin’s breakthrough into the industry began to gain traction from local media, and a former journalist, Emma King, reached out wanting to tell his story. Emma took the story to BBC East Midlands today, which has drawn more attention to the 51-year-old’s newfound success.
