Navratri Special: Bollywood singers recommend songs for Navratri playlist
Navratri is all about celebrating the divine feminine energy, and what better way to do that than with upbeat, energetic music? So, we asked popular singers from the Indian film industry to share their recommended playlists for Navratri. They talk about the top songs they suggest to ensure guests are filled with enthusiasm and joy while celebrating this festive occasion through dance and merrymaking.
Armaan Malik: My recommended playlist includes songs that I am sure are loved by the majority of people. The first song is a classic from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam-Dholi Taaro Dhol Baaje. This song fills the air with energy and happy vibes. The second song is Tattad Tattad, and it’s hard not to be impressed. Another song of his that I really like is Gamey Gamey. This song is sure to get your feet pounding.
Darshan Raval: My favorite songs to add to my Navratri playlist are Dhindhora Baaje Re, Chogada and Kamariye. I always feel like Garba when I listen to these songs, so I love playing along with them. One of her songs that I’ve been dancing to a lot lately is Dakla. This song is a perfect blend of traditional and modern beats and always impresses the audience.
Shilpa Rao: I was born and brought up in Jamshedpur and was deeply influenced by various forms of music such as Shama Sangeet, Nazrul and Bengali Rabindra Sangeet. We have been listening to Durga Maa’s songs during Durga Puja celebrations and one particular performance stands out for me. Parveen Sultana Ji’s rendition of ‘Bhavani Dayani’ is legendary. Durga beautifully celebrates the various aspects of her Maa and depicts her power and benevolence. This production is very important to me, I witnessed it in my formative years and it continues to resonate with me to this day.
Rahul Vaidya: My first recommendation is Garbe ki Raat. I love that song, not just because it’s my song, but it’s a really, really beautiful track and that beat will make you groove. Chogada Tara from the movie Loveyatri sung by Darshan Raval and Asees Kaur is another song you should add to your playlist. Hey Naam Re is my third choice. There are so many beautiful songs in your Navratri playlist and you can’t afford to miss them.
Akriti Kakkar: For me, Amit Trivedi’s Moti Verana, Gangubai’s Dholida and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela’s Nagada Sang Dhol Baaje are must-have songs in my Garba playlist. I think these songs really capture the atmosphere of this festival. I remember hearing Moti Verana and instantly falling in love with it. The composition, the smile it brings, the pure happy vibe of the song, everything is beautiful. “Dholida” and “Nagaada Sang” are once again great songs, their energy and enthusiasm making you want to get up and dance.
Purva Mantri: Madhi Mahisagar is a very special song. Every time I sing this on stage I get goosebumps and this song connects me to divine energy. ‘Pari Hoon Main’ is a timeless song and an all-time favorite especially for Navratri. The composition and lyrics are both very beautiful, and will add to the festive mood. Rum Jam is my third choice. This is my first Garba release, which makes it even more special. It’s truly a powerhouse
