Madhapur drug case: Telugu actor Navdeep questioned by ED on suspicion of money laundering

Telugu actor Navdeep appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday, October 10, in connection with a drug case being investigated by the Hyderabad Police.

Navdeep presented himself at the emergency department at Bashir Bagh office in response to a notice issued to him. ED officials interrogated him for over six hours using a questionnaire prepared by them.

Investigators primarily focused on the actor’s contacts with three Nigerians allegedly involved in drug smuggling.

ED investigating money laundering

The ED is probing a case of money laundering in which cash transactions were carried out to smuggle contraband goods.

Navdeep’s bank accounts were under the scanner of the ED and the investigating agency was probing all the transactions in detail with the help of his bank documents.

A few days ago, he appeared before the Telangana State Narcotics Control Bureau (TSNAB) police in the Madhapur drug case.

He was produced before them after receiving a notice under Section 41A of the CrPC as he was declared as accused number 37 (A37) in the case.

Police said Navdeep was a drug consumer and was suspected of procuring drugs from one of the suspected drug lords busted by police in Madhapur in September.

Arrested person in this case

TSNAB authorities arrested several people in the case, including former Congress leader D. Vitthal Rao’s son and film director A. Sushanth Reddy.

The incident comes almost two weeks after police raided a serviced apartment in Madhapur area of ​​Hyderabad in a drug bust and arrested three people suspected of having links to Tollywood.

TSNAB officers seized 8 grams of cocaine from two of the arrestees. Fifty grams of MDMA, 24 ecstasy tablets, eight mobile phones and a vehicle were also seized, all of which he said was worth Rs 1.1 crore.

TSNAB director and Hyderabad Commissioner of Police (CP) CV Anand said Devarakonda Suresh Rao, son of former MP Ram Chand, who has connections in the film industry. K Sandeep is a software engineer who hosted the industry party. Srikar Krishna Praneeth, the suspect who organized the poker event at a luxury hotel in the city, has been arrested.

Three Nigerian peddlers, Amobi Chukwudi Muonagor, Igbaure Michael and Thomas Anaga Kalu, were subsequently arrested from Bengaluru.

Actor Navdeep’s name has come up in the case and the Hyderabad police have reportedly collected evidence suggesting that he got the drugs from his friend Ramchand, but he is already in jail. has been done.

This was not the first time Navdeep appeared before investigators.

In 2017, he was questioned by sleuths of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Prohibition and Excise Department to investigate a drug case involving suspected links with big names in the Telugu film industry.
