Interstate fake currency cartel inspired by web series busted in Delhi

New Delhi, October 6 (IANS): An interstate cartel dealing in Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) inspired by the Shahid Kapoor-starrer web series ‘Farji’ was busted by the Delhi Police Crime Branch on Friday, with five members also arrested.

Those arrested were cartel kingpins Sacoor Mohammad (25), Lokesh Yadav (28), Himanshu Jain (47), Shiv Lal (30) and Sanjay Godara (22). Both were found to be residents of Rajasthan.

Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Singh Yadav said that surveillance has been intensified against the activities of the suspected members of a syndicate involved in counterfeit currency.

“Specific feedback has been received that two criminals named Thakoor and Lokesh, who are involved in the distribution of FICN, are coming to the area near Akshardham temple to deliver the consignment to the potential recipients,” it said. he said.

A trap was set there and the two were arrested.

During the search, FICN of high quality worth Rs 600,000 worth Rs 500 was recovered from their possession.

During cross-examination, the accused revealed that he received the recovered FICN for circulation from his colleagues Himanshu Jain, Shiv Lal and his brother Sanjay.

“It has also come to light that accused Radhe, Thakur and Shiv Lal conspired to set up an organization to print FICN in Ajmer with a view to earning huge profits. operated a nexus or syndicate that printed FICNs in a rented house in Ajmer and distributed counterfeit currency to various customers in Delhi-NCR,” the special CP said.

These revelations led to subsequent raids in Ajmer and the arrest of Himanshu, Shiv Lal and Sanjay.

A substantial amount of FICN amounting to Rs 1.1 million with a total value of Rs 500 crore was also recovered from their possession.

“Further investigation revealed two laptops, three color printers, two laminating machines, two pen drives, sheets of paper, ink and chemicals, two sheets of gauze, and a green foil sheet used as a “security thread.” The equipment used to print the FICN, including: The frame used to inscribe the number 500 in glowing ink on the FICN was recovered from a rented house in Ajmer,” the special CP said.

Additionally, mobile phones, SIM cards, one Creta car and one Swift car used by all the suspects in the distribution of FICN were also seized.

Thakor, a painter by profession, had come to Ajmer in 2015 to prepare for a competitive exam.

“He is the mastermind of the syndicate and was inspired to print and distribute FICN after watching ‘Farzi’ on Amazon Prime Video. Sakoor, Shiv Lal and Radhey established a setup for printing his FICN in Ajmer. “Due to his background as a painter, he had a good understanding of chemicals and inks, which he used to manufacture counterfeit currency,” the special CP added.
