New movies and web series releases for the last weekend of 2023
As the curtain falls on 2023, a slew of new movies and web series are in store for audiences that challenge them to trade the outside world for the allure of indoor entertainment. Among them, the releases are noteworthy “The 12th Failure” On Disney+ Hotstar, a film based on a true story follows a young man from Shambhala on his arduous journey to clear the UPSC exams against all odds. “Berlin” and “Kaatera” – from robbers to farmers
Netflix is set to release the long-awaited ‘Berlin’, a prequel to the hit Spanish series Money Heist. The narrative, which focuses on the character Berlin played by Pedro Alonso, takes the audience back in time, revealing the chronicles of Berlin’s early robbery. In contrast, Kaatheera, a Kannada film set in the 1970s, starring Darshan, paints a vivid picture of the lives and struggles of farmers.
“Three of Us” and “Shastri Virud Shastri” – a packed weekend on Netflix
Continuing its busy release schedule, Netflix presents The Three of Us, directed by Avinash Arun and starring Shefali Shah. The film delves deep into the emotional odyssey of a middle-aged woman with dementia as she explores the corridors of her childhood. Also debuting on Netflix is ”Shastry Virudh Shastry,” a family drama centered around a young boy named Yamani who is embroiled in a custody battle, featuring performances by Neena Kulkarni and Paresh Rawal.
With these releases, the highest grossing film of 2023, “barbie”, now airing on Max, while “The Holdovers,” a period drama, is available on Peacock. Both films have won numerous awards in the nominations, with “The Owners” considered the main contender for the Oscar. “Maestro,” the critically acclaimed biographical drama about Leonard Bernstein, is expected to be a major contender at the upcoming Academy Awards.
