The teenage musical virtuoso has teamed up with a Hollywood actor to release a new song of his own.
Nandi Bushell’s latest single “Sweet Nightmare” features vocals by Marvel star Josh Brolin.
The 13-year-old from Ipswich challenged rock legend Dave Grohl to a drum battle and gained 2.7 million followers on social media with her performance.
Nandi said his song, which is scheduled to be released on Friday, October 13, is “fun, a little scary, a little catchy and danceable.”
She started working with Brolin last year after recording at Platoon, a London studio run by music industry luminary and Apple advisor Denzil Feigelson, but her father John He called it a “life-changing experience.”
The drumming ace wanted to add a frightening voice to her songs, so her friend, celebrity photographer Brian Bowen-Smith, contacted Brolin, who played Thanos in Marvel’s The Avengers. , asked if we could collaborate.
“Josh is a drummer himself and was already following Nandi’s story,” Bushell said.
“Josh loves trucks and wanted to help Nandi in any way he could.
“Even though they have never met in person, Josh has been very supportive of Nandi’s art.
”[He’s] He is a true legend who supports up-and-coming artists out of pure kindness and goodwill. ”
‘Sweet Nightmares’ is Nandy’s follow-up to last year’s ‘The Shadows’, with Brolin’s vocals said to give the song a “deeper, scarier sound”.
“Everything I like is a little bit scary and dark,” Nandi said.
“I hope people like my videos and feel the vibe to my songs.”
Brolin, the son of movie star James Brolin and son-in-law of showbiz icon Barbra Streisand, also ended up appearing briefly in Nandi’s video, much to the delight of his family. .
Bushell said independent artist Nandi’s promotion was created on a shoestring budget and was shot on a phone in his family’s lounge using three black sheets, lights and a smoke machine.
“After seeing the first cut, Josh was excited to be in Nandi’s video as well,” he added.
Nandi also traveled to Holland to shoot a song reel with Let It Happen (sisters Nora, Yara, and Rosa), a teenage dance crew with support from Janet Jackson and Alicia Keys. visited.
The song’s release is the latest in a series of accomplishments for the high school girl, who just finished filming a yet-to-be-named children’s TV show.
