LeBron James’ “TNF in The Shop” returns to Amazon Prime on October 12th
According to Front Office Sports, Amazon Prime Video will bring back LeBron James’ “TNF in The Shop” for Season 2. The Thursday Night Football alternate stream will return on October 12th when the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Denver Broncos.
Last season, executive producers James and Maverick Carter were joined by star guests including Jamie Foxx, Odell Beckham Jr., Jalen Ramsey, Rob Lowe and Dez Bryant. Viewers can reportedly expect celebrities in the same boat to join Season 2, including Will Farrell.
“We’re having fun. We love talking about football, and it shows,” said Paul Rivera, co-creator of the Emmy-winning show and chief brand officer at The SpringHill Company. he told Front Office Sports. “LeBron, Mav, and I joke that if Amazon wasn’t our partner and we didn’t have the shop, we would still be doing it from the comfort of our homes. The conversation is pretty much the same. It will be.”
Traditionally, “The Shop” is filmed and edited on HBO, but TNF’s alternative stream is live and provided a learning experience for Rivera and the rest of the production staff last season.
“It may sound silly, but we’ve learned that the game goes a lot faster on live TV. But we’ve learned that we have great partners, that we’re prepared, and that we stay true to the brand. I think I learned the benefits of it,” Rivera said. “I think if we’ve learned anything, it’s that as long as we’re who we are, we’ll be okay.”
This renewal was made in response to the increased viewership of TNF on Prime Video. Last Thursday’s Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers stream averaged 13.48 million viewers, a 15% increase over last year’s Miami Dolphins vs. Cincinnati Bengals game.
TNF’s first three games averaged 14.14 million viewers, an increase of 19% from the same point last season.
