Playing Richa, a character who struggles with the delicate balance between tradition and ambition, embodies the struggles of many Indian women, and it has been a huge honour and responsibility. Moreover, “Sumo Didi” will be screened at the next festival on June 2. The film has bagged double nominations for Best Debut Film and Nikhil Sachan Award for Best Screenplay.
Shot in Kolkata, Mumbai and Japan, “Sumo Didi” tells the story of a middle-class girl from a conservative Marwari family who rises to the occasion, turns her weaknesses into strengths and shatters the glass ceiling.
