Fort Worth is hosting the premiere of the new movie – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
Fort Worth will get some star power Saturday night when it hosts the world premiere of a new movie called The Actor.
“You’re literally in the city where the movie was shot, watching it. So I think that makes it even more special,” said Richard Blake, the writer, director and star of the film.
In The Actor, Blake portrays an actor who struggles with his moral standards after witnessing the murder of one of his neighbors and finding a stash of cash that the victim had been hiding. He keeps the money, thus beginning the performance of a lifetime to hide his true identity.
The actor comes from Fort Worth-based Amberock Productions. Blake and his wife, Amber, started the production company in 2016 while living in Hollywood. The pandemic halted production. So, in 2021, the couple moved to Amber’s hometown of Fort Worth, and brought their production company with them.
“I know the area and we came and we loved it. I was in the middle of that scenario. So during that time, I was kind of frustrated and angry but unsure and unsure, but I kind of took it all in and just put him in that scenario, and then,” Blake said. We ended up staying.” “We bought a place downtown. We live in a city that I love. So I said, “Let’s move our company here.”
The Actor is their third project, and although there is some Hollywood in the film, there is a lot of Fort Worth as well.
“We shot exterior shots in Los Angeles, and we shot some travel scenes that the movie seems to have a very broad scope. But, you know, I’ve been in Hollywood for 20 years, so, you know, you cheat on everything,” Blake said. : “We shot every scene, all the crew, everything from Fort Worth. So I mean there are a lot of Fort Worth locations in there.”
Main Street, Downtown, The Tower, Fort Worth Club, First Christian Church, Paris Café, Magnolia Street, Roy Pope’s Grocery, and Pope’s Gym are among the locations where the film was filmed.
“It’s just a fun movie. Don’t take it too seriously,” Blake said. “I want to go back to a simpler time where we had to sit down for two hours and watch a story, and you know, you either loved it, liked it, or watched it again.”
The film premieres on AppleTV, Amazon and other streaming services on Friday. The invitation-only red carpet rolls out Saturday night in downtown Fort Worth.
