‘Supergirl’ movie finds director with Craig Gillespie
It’s up to director Craig Gillespie, who is in talks to take the helm Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
The director joins James Gunn (Superman) and Andy Muschietti (Batman movie The brave and the bold) as among the filmmakers rounding out the slate of projects for DC Studios, the Warner Bros. division. Led by Gunn and Peter Safran.
With Gillespie, DC gains a tried-and-true leader known for bringing a grounded, stylish touch to projects like Disney films. CruellaSki drama I’m Tonya And TV Pam and Tommy. His last appearance in theaters was with the movie GameStop Dumb money.
Supergirl stars Dragon HouseMillie Alcock, who will play Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin. Inspired by the comics of Tom King and Bilquis Evely, the feature will move away from the serious take on the characters that audiences may know from The CW. Supergirl series.
“We’ll see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents since he was an infant, versus Supergirl who was raised on a rock, a slice of Krypton, and who watched everyone around her die and die,” Gunn told reporters in early 2023. “She was killed in horrific ways for the first 14 years of her life and then came to Earth.”
Ana Nogueira wrote the screenplay for the project, which does not have a release date. DC Studios is currently in production Supermanhis first advantage.
