‘Heeramandi’: A web series about Lahore’s red light district is coming to Netflix on May 1
Bollywood Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Digital Debut and Epic Saga Web Series Heramand: Diamond Market According to Indian media, the premiere will be held on Netflix on May 1.
The much-awaited release date of Bhansali’s beloved creation was announced in a grand gesture: a drone light show was held at Mahalaxmi Race Course in South Mumbai. The Economic Times Reportedly, the offer’s star cast comprising Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal and Sanjida Sheikh along with Bhansali Productions CEO Prerna Singh and series director Tanya Bami were present at the event. Consisting of eight episodes, set against the tumultuous backdrop of the 1940s battles, the series explores themes of love, power, revenge and freedom and explores the cultural reality of the glittering district of Heramand through courtesans and stories. Their patrons, according to reports. Apart from enthralling the audience, the show also performed well with its actors, with Sinha praising Bhansali for creating a “dream-like world” from which no one in the cast wanted to emerge.
“It was dreamy, it was amazing and it was so captivating,” gushed the star. Praising Bhansali’s vision and performance, Sinha added, “For us as actors, it was an experience that we had never had before. It was that no matter how good you think it is, it will always get better from you.”
Echoing Sinha’s vow, Chadha has worked with Bhansali before Golion and Raasliela Ram-liela In 2013, he praised the filmmaker for his attention to detail and getting the most out of his actors, noting that nothing was done “half-heartedly”.
“You have to put your heart and soul into everything, be it dialogue delivery, acting, dancing, music, everything,” Chadha explained. “He keeps an eye on all the extra stands behind. He is just wonderful to work with. We all became better actors.”
Koirala also praised the experience of working on the show. He previously worked with Bhansali in his 1996 directorial debut Khamoshi: the musicalThe actor noted, “I think his work ethic is unmatched.”
Created, directed and produced by Bhansali, fans of the epic Netflix series have just over a month to go before they can gauge whether the wait was worth it.
