JTBC’s medical K-drama Doctor Slump, starring Park Hyung Sik and Park Shin Hee, initially saw a rise in ratings, but has since experienced a significant drop. The JTBC series, which boasts an all-star cast, has taken over the time slot previously held by the network’s hit show Welcome to Samdalri, starring Ji Chang Wook. According to K-media 1Asia, episode 5 of Doctor Slump, which aired on February 10, saw a decline in viewership, falling to 3.7%. However, on February 11, the transmission recorded a slight increase of 0.2 percentage points compared to the previous day.
Several factors contribute to the decline in the show’s ratings. One possible factor is strong competition from other shows that air at the same time, such as MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama Knight Flower. Additionally, Captivating the King aired its fourth consecutive episode during the Lunar New Year holiday, resulting in an increase in viewership ratings.
Dr. Slump still has no turning point
So far, the show has consistently featured the professional struggles of Nam Ha Neul (played by Park Shin Hee) and Yeo Jeong Woo (played by Park Hyung Sik). However, it is yet to bring an exciting twist to ignite the interest of the viewers. Experts believe that the current drop in ratings is temporary and expect recovery after the launch of new episodes.
