Blumhouse is bringing Insidious, Split, and Invisible Man back to theaters
Halloween is still seven months away, but Blumhouse is hoping to appease horror fans by bringing some of its library titles back to theaters.
AMC Theaters will host the five-day event in more than 40 cities and 100 locations, where tickets are $8. The assortment includes Divides (Friday, March 29), Cleansing (Saturday, March 30), Ouija: the origin of evil (Sunday, March 31), Insidio(Monday, April 1 – which is the film’s 13th anniversary) and Invisible Man (Tuesday, April 2).
“We wanted to celebrate local communities of horror fans across the country with a fun, affordable and a little bit sinister night at the movies. We’re grateful to our partners at AMC for helping us bring this idea to fruition,” Jason Blum, founder and CEO of Blumhouse, said in a statement.
Added AMC EVP of Global Programming and Division CEO: “Blumhouse films terrify and delight horror fans. We’re excited to bring these cult favorites back to the big screen.”
The full list of participating cities can be found here.
It comes after several other older titles were re-released in theaters, a welcome development for theater owners who have been uninterested in films due to dual strikes last year that delayed some titles. Christopher Nolan 2020 movie Tenet It hit theaters back in February, while Pixar has released several titles in theaters after jumping straight to streaming during the pandemic. Pixar Luca It will be the latest when it arrives on March 22.
Insidiousin particular, is a special title for Blumhouse, as the horror film will be re-released on its 13th birthday (a big number for horror fans), and marked the first collaboration between Blumhouse and James Wan’s Atomic Monster, which recently completed the merger.
