Director Atlee Kumar recently revealed that he has entered the industry as an assistant director and opened up about his upcoming Hollywood ventures. Speaking at a recent conference by ABP News, Atlee said it took him eight years to enter Bollywood. Over the next three years, he promised everyone new projects in Hollywood.

The director mentioned the huge success he achieved with Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Jawan’ in 2023. Commenting on the violence and sensitive content in his films, Atlee said that every film is meant to portray the truth. He considers himself a media person. Whenever the media uses images of violence in the news, it reflects the reality of the world. So, in ‘Jawan’, it was necessary to portray the intensity of farmers’ suicides, and he had no option to mitigate it. Readers can read past violent scenes in newspapers, but as a director he needed to make an impact and be a voice for the people.

He added that the violence is not aimed at provoking anyone, but to make the audience reconsider whether certain acts are humane or inhumane towards their cohabitants. Even if a movie depicts a scene where a dog is shot, it does not necessarily mean violence, but rather questions cruelty to animals. He thinks it’s unfortunate that all these efforts are classified as violent, but it represents a “bitter truth”.

Reminiscing about the first day of shooting ‘Robot’ with Rajinikanth, he said it was magical and miraculous. He worked with director Shankar as an AD and collaborated with Rajinikanth, Thalapathy Vijay and Shah Rukh. He found the journey filled with gratitude.
