Tollywood’s Next 5 Crore Hindi Movies
Prasanth Varma’s superhero film ‘Hanu Man’ has achieved a significant milestone by crossing the $50 billion box office gross in its Hindi dubbed version.
Hanu Man, starring Teja Sajja, initially had a limited release and grossed around 2.10 crores in Hindi. However, the film gained traction on the back of overwhelmingly positive word of mouth, and in its 30th day in theaters, it grossed more than $50 billion in net box office revenue.
All eyes are now on Tollywood’s upcoming pan-Indian release, which could cross the $50 million mark.
Ravi Teja’s “The Eagle” was released in Hindi last week, but it struggled to collect even $2 billion in its opening weekend in Hindi-speaking countries. After receiving disappointing reports, the film’s prospects seem bleak.
Similarly, Varun Tay’s ‘Operation Valentine’ aims to capture the Hindi market, but expectations are limited given the muted response to ‘Fighter’.
Hence, expectations are high for major releases in Tollywood like ‘Kalki 2989 AD’, ‘Pushpa 2’, ‘Devara’, ‘Game Changer’ and ‘OG’.
Furthermore, expectations are high for the Telugu film “Razakar: The Silent Massacre of Hyderabad” produced by the Bharatiya Janata Party leader and scheduled to be released on March 1, 2024. The film has a controversial atmosphere reminiscent of successful propaganda films.
If it’s made well and is well-received by a section of the audience interested in such agenda-driven films, it could create a huge stir in the Hindi-speaking states.
