After the resounding success of the first and second seasons, the web series Maharani is all set to release its third season. The drama series premiered in 2021 on SonyLiv. On Monday, the Season 3 trailer was released on social media. The web series stars Huma Qureshi as the protagonist Rani Bharti, a housewife who is involved in politics. The show also stars actors Sohum Shah, Amit Syal, Kani Khusrout and Inaamulhaq in important roles. Maharani 3 is produced by Dimple Kharbanda and Naren Kumar. It is directed by Saurabh Bhave. The screenplay is written by Subhash Kapoor and Nandan Singh.

Maharani Season 3 will be released on SonyLiv from March 7. In the Season 3 trailer, Huma Qureshi’s character seems to have become stronger after the trials and tribulations of the previous seasons. In the trailer, Rani Bharti delivers hard-hitting dialogues like, “Bandook kamjor log chalate hai, samajdaar log dimaag, (weak people use guns and smart people use their brains)”.

Huma Qureshi, known for her roles in Gangs of Wasseypur, Monica, O My Darling, Ek Thi Daayan and Netflix’s Leila among others, has often said that playing Rani Bharti was one of the highlights of her career.

In an interview with CNBC TV18, he praised the complexity of Rani Bharati’s character and said, “Rani has given me so much. He’s such a successful, full-fledged, three-dimensional character. It’s so much more than anything I’ve played before. So I was very excited and I fully complied. Whether it was working in the fields or just lifting and tucking my sari, I just felt organic. It was not like acting. I felt like I was that person. There was no other way.”

He also talked about the difficulties of filming the intense show. The actor added, “We shot both seasons in winter. We had to wake up at 4 o’clock in the morning, clenched our teeth in the cold, and in some places drove on bumpy roads for about 1.5 hours. Then I would have five pages of dialogue to memorize and say with intent and action and intonation and all that. It was challenging, but also very relaxing.”

Huma Qureshi recently published a novel titled Zeba: An Accidental Superhero. On the film front, she will be seen in the Hindi film Pooja Meri Jaan alongside Mrunal Thakur, Vikram Singh Chauhan and Vijay Raaz.
