Megastar Amitabh Bachchan said on Sunday that his 2005 film “Black” will be available on Netflix and that he hopes the critically acclaimed drama will give viewers strength and compassion.

The film, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, completes 19 years of its release today. Based on the true story of Helen Keller, Black stars Rani Mukerji as a blind and deaf woman and Bachchan plays Devraj, a teacher.

Bachchan made this announcement while sharing the trailer of the film on his X page. “It’s been 19 years since ‘Black’ was released, and today we celebrate its first digital release on Netflix. Debraj and Michelle’s journey has been an inspiration to all of us, and we hope it’s yours. I hope it gives you strength and compassion,” the 81-year-old wrote in the post.

Bhansali’s first web series ‘Heera Mandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ will also premiere on Netflix this year. The show stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chaddha, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Sehgal.
