Feud Capote Vs The Swans Review: Naomi Watts is good when she’s bad
After a seven-year wait, Feud returns for a second season – starring Naomi Watts, Tom Holland, Slim Keith and lots of clothes.
About Feud: Capote Vs The Swans
There is a cardinal rule about dirty secrets – do not kiss those who know yours.
Truman Capote’s claim to fame is the 1966 book In cold blooded And not long after, things went downhill. Trying to finish his exposition Answered prayers You guessed it, the secrets of New York’s high society.
a little late though Enmity Offers a glamorous look at a tumultuous phase of Capote’s life, focusing on his public relations with powerful Manhattan women that marked the beginning of his aforementioned downfall. Then the focus shifts to a charming performance by Naomi Watts and all the usual scandalous activities that the rich and dirty usually do: sex, infidelity, power grabs and lots of money deals.
Based on the book by Lawrence Limmer Capote’s Womenand adapted by playwright John Robin Baitz, Enmity zips in and out of different eras. About a decade later, Capote exposes his emotionally bankrupt friends, whom he calls “swans” because of their beauty. Answered prayersBaby and his influential friends – Slim Keith, Lee Radziwill and CZ Guest – boycott him from their tight but shallow inner circle. Throughout the eight-episode season, of which we’ve only watched two so far, Enmity Jumps on one train dump before trading it for another.
All that fluff and fluff aside, Enmity It is intrinsic to human relationships and our innate desire to be accepted and belong, whether that inclusion is deserved or not. The show uses mundane moments to show the weaknesses of the characters, including Capote, buried under all that PR-prepared glamor and sometimes questionably acquired wealth.
Naomi Watts, as the big-faced Babe Paley, is one little wonder at 55. In it, we see Babe’s deep insecurities, which are exacerbated by society and often its own demons. Tom Hollander’s charm in his betrayal and hustle never say no approach that only a humble neighborhood boy can relate to.
Finally, Feud: Capote vs. Swan It floats ashore not because of its outstanding story—it has its flaws, of course—but for the amazing cast Ryan Murphy & Co. had a knack for.
