How training at Movieguide® changed my life

I’ve always wanted to make a difference in the world for Christ, but I didn’t know how.

My senior year of college was quickly approaching, and I needed an internship.

I wanted to find something that I knew would point people to God, a place where my work meant more than just checking a box.

That’s when I found the training at Movieguide®.

Hollywood redemption? Forming a Christ culture? I couldn’t think of anything else that aligned better with my professional goals and personal beliefs.

I hesitated to apply though. As an English major, I didn’t know much about the entertainment industry, and the thought of leaving my home in the Midwest for Los Angeles was equally daunting.

But I decided to go for it.

It was one of the best decisions of my life.

I have had the opportunity to serve as an editorial intern at Movieguide® for the summer of 2022.

From hands-on experiences and internships to meeting new friends and eventually landing a job as a Content Specialist at Movieguide®, an internship at Movieguide changed my life in so many ways.

1. Real-world training: As an intern, I put my education into practice. From covering breaking news to attending a press conference for a new movie, I gained first-hand experience in entertainment journalism.
2. Once-in-a-lifetime opportunities: With Movieguide®, I was able to attend previews of upcoming films and tour Warner Bros. Studios. And visit famous Hollywood sites for free. Each of these experiences shaped my understanding of the entertainment industry.
3. UNIQUE LEARNING EXPERIENCES: As a Movieguide® intern, I have had the opportunity to learn about the industry from the people who actively work in it. From directors to producers to casting directors, Movieguide® has provided me with an inside look at all aspects of the entertainment world. Additionally, I learned what it means to work as a Christian in Hollywood from Movieguide® founder, Dr. Ted Baer.
4. Friendships and Connections: My internship at Movieguide® helped me connect with other Christians who are passionate about changing the entertainment industry for Christ. These connections and friendships have continued to make an impact.
5. Direction and Purpose: Before the internship, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do after I graduated from college. Interning at Movieguide® has provided me with focus and direction in my career.

Now, as a Content Specialist at Movieguide®, I continue to see how God works in Hollywood and through entertainment.
