The makers of the upcoming sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD starring Indian stars Prabhas and Deepika Padukone announced the title of the film at San Diego Comic-Con in July and it created a huge buzz across the world. Yesterday, Team Kalki created a buzz at IIT Bombay Techfest by showcasing some specially curated content.

Speaking on the sidelines of Techfest, Kalki 2898 AD director Nag Ashwin spoke about the comparisons between his film and Hollywood sci-fi films. Nag Ashwin revealed that Kalki 2898 AD is the first true sci-fi film ever made in Indian cinema. “Kalki is a different film. The story is set in a completely new world. We have seen how Hollywood has depicted its future cities. In Kalki 2898 AD, the audience will witness what Indian cities will look like in the future. The film has a strong Indian connection,” the director revealed.

Also starring legends of Indian cinema, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani in lead roles, Kalki 2898 AD is produced by veteran producer Ashwini Dutt on the Vyjayanthi Films banner. The film’s theatrical release can be expected in 93 days, which means either March 31 or April 1, 2024.
