Salar also stars Tinu Anand, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu and others. It has been released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, Kannada and Hindi. It is scheduled to have a cinematic duel with Dhanki starring Shah Rukh Khan and was released in theaters on Thursday. Both films are struggling to get the maximum number of screens in theaters. However, Salar has an advantage in advance bookings and is expected to get a bigger slot than Rajkumar Hirani’s Dhanki.
Ever since the trailer of ‘Salaar’ was released, there has been an ongoing debate over the film’s alleged glorification of on-screen violence. However, the film’s director Neil believes that the filmmakers are downplaying the violence in the film. In an interaction with Galatta Plus, he said: “Look at what’s happening around the world today. It’s all true. We feel the movie is exaggerated… but if you look at what’s happening in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip, maybe You’ll see that we underestimate it in movies. The reality is there. We don’t use violence to say violence is good. We use violence all the time. It’s about a hero who uses his powers to defeat bad guys. There’s a moral to that.”
In other interviews, Neil has made it clear that if Salaar is classified as a popular film, it is only because of the underlying emotion of the film. He added that the violence depicted in movies is limited to what is required by emotion.
