“Amitabh Bachchan is the biggest inspiration for all my films. There are many films in which he played the hero, but he was also the villain. It’s a genre that was rarely seen after that era. He I don’t think anyone else has portrayed Gray the way he portrayed it,” the writer-director said in an interview with PTI.
“He made the villains look heroic. So I try to do that in my movies too…I try to make my characters look as negative as possible, even if they’re positive characters. . The hero has to be the biggest villain in my movie,” he added.
Prashanth Neel says his favorite Amitabh Bachchan film is Mukul Anand’s 1990 hit revenge drama Agneepath. The director said that his dream is to direct the megastar in a film.
“Before I die, I want to do a film with Amitabh Bachchan. As a student of films from the 70s, 80s and 90s, I can’t think of anyone else but him. I want to do a film for Amitabh Bachchan. My biggest dream is to make him the biggest villain of my movie. I wouldn’t want it any other way. If he agrees to do something, that’s it. It will be the greatest honor of my life.”
When asked if he would ever direct a film in a genre other than action, Neil said he would love to try something different.
“Anyone doing something like that gets monotonous and wants to leave the genre,” he added.
