‘Bollywood is using its money to enter spaces like IFFI’: Filmmaker Arvind Sinha Bollywood News

Bollywood is making inroads into film festivals such as; IFFI Veteran documentary filmmaker Arvind Sinha said on Tuesday that it is unfair to independent filmmakers who need government support and a platform to promote their work through money.

Sinha is heading the non-feature films category at Indian Panorama at the ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which opened on Monday night in Panaji here.

“What should be promoted (through IFFI) are good films. Bollywood has its own money, finance and power, and through all this they are entering these fields,” said the famous documentary filmmaker. spoke to reporters here.

Sinha said this is not Bollywood’s fault, but because he has a lot of money, “those who make decisions should not allow people’s tax dollars to go to filmmakers like Karan Johar. We need to make that clear.”

“They (IFFI organizers) have to support documentary filmmakers and feature filmmakers who need support. There is no rajas maharaja to support artists, the government supports any artistic work. Should… Why should these spaces be given to those who already have everything? They don’t need support from the government. What are they doing here? Film festivals are not for them. Film festivals should be for good films,” the director said, referring to the heavy presence of Bollywood at Monday’s ceremony.
