Tanhaji Malusare was an unsung warrior from the 17th century. His acts of valour and bravery continued to inspire soldiers long after he lost his life in battle.

Endowed with a body of steel, the courage of a lion and an agile mind, Tanhaji was also one of Chattrapati Shivaji`s closest aides and trusted lieutenants. Ready to lay down his life for his King and country, this braveheart planned a surgical strike to get back the Kondana Fort against the Mughal army headed by Udaybhan.

When the fort of Kondana, that was the pride of the Marathas was under the control of Udaybhan and a Mughal army, Tanhaji went to war armed only with a handful of Marathas. If the Mughals had muscle power, Tanhaji had sharp acumen. The only unfortunate thing is–the Marathas won Kondana but they lost their Lion. Tanhaji left behind a void that none in history could ever fill.

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language biographical period action film. Starring Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, Kajol, Jagapathi Babu and Sharad Kelkar in the lead roles. Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior Directed by Om Raut, the film is set in the 17th century and based on the life of Tanaji Malusare, who was the military leader of King Shivaji, founder of the Maratha Empire.

In the late 17th century, the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb declares strategic hill fortress Kondhana as the capital of Southern India from which he planned to expand Mughal empire into South India. However, The Maratha Emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj orders his General Tanaji Malusare to capture Kondhana at any cost to protect Southern India from Mughal invasion, while the Mughal emperor sends his trusted commander Uday Bhan to defend the fortress, thus leading to a battle between the two armies for control of the fortress. The Battle is known as the Battle of Sinhagad which decided the fate of Southern India.

Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is going to hit the big screens on January 10, 2020. This film is very special to Ajay Devgn because it marks his 100th film in the Hindi film industry. The actor is also sharing the screen space with wife Kajol. Apart from Ajay and Kajol, the film also stars Saif Ali Khan in lead roles. The film is directed by Om Raut.

On Agenda AajTak 2019, Ajay spoke about Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and he said, It started with a concept – The Unsung Warrior. So we want to start a series, not just about warriors, but even common people who can be an inspiration. Tanhaji is the first of that series. We want to show that Tanhaji is not a state hero, he’s a national hero. There’s only a paragraph about him in our history books, but we want more people to know about him.

Today, the makers of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior has released the second official trailer of the film. The three minutes long action-packed trailer shows Saif Ali Khan and Ajay Devgn fighting with each other on the battleground. Kajol aka Savitribai Malusare in the film supporting her husband throughout the battle against Udaybhan Rathod. Saif Ali Khan is looking ferocious; his character in the film is almost similar to Padmaavat’s Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh). In one of the scenes in the trailer, Saif can be seen wildly eating meat just like Alauddin Khilji.
