Film Review: We risk a sleepless night by watching the documentary “Hollywood Dreams and Nightmares of the Robert Englund Story”
I will never forget the first time I laid eyes on you Freddy Krueger .
She was absolutely terrified as she watched him drag his terrifying gauntlet along the wall looking for Amanda Weiss. Tina Originally – and better – A Nightmare on Elm Street .
As is often the case with cinematic bogeymen, the real-life man behind the makeup is nothing like the relentless killer he portrays on screen.

Robert Englund appears humble, kind, appreciative and warmly reflective in Christopher Griffith and Gary Smart’s documentary Hollywood dreams and nightmares .
He shows off an eccentric look and Freddy’s obsessive streak and you can tell he’s quite happy to put his career in the spotlight.
And so it is, as Griffith and Smart leave no stone unturned as they follow Englund from his youth, where he disappointed his father by chasing his acting dream of becoming a lawyer, all the way to his memorable appearance last year. Stranger Things season 4 .
Unsurprisingly, most of the two-hour running time is devoted to his time Freddy And Englund doesn’t seem to have any regrets about being the horror type – highlighting how it led to constant roles, even into his advanced years.
There are some great tidbits, like Englund testing for Han Solo Englund essentially lands Mark Hamill his signature role Luke Skywalker And creative voorhees jason Actor Kane Hodder almost fills in Freddy Striped sweatshirt.
The speaking heads gathered for Englund’s serenade are an impressive number, ranging from horror icons like Hodder, Tony Todd, Doug Bradley, Lin Shaye, and Bill Moseley, to directors Mick Garris, Adam Green, and Eli Roth.
If anything, he’s probably been a bit affable and positive, other than mentioning a somewhat difficult relationship with his father and regretting missing out on Hodder Freddy vs Jason .
Certainly further questioning by Griffiths and Smart would have elicited some deep cuts from their charismatic screen legend on things like Elm Street Remake or horror film critics.
