Bengali Web: Ushasi Ray as Petni in the upcoming web series
actress Ushasi Ray He has always been fond of horror stories and now he will soon be seen essaying the role of a ghost in Abhimanyu Mukherjee’s upcoming web series Petni. The series revolves around four friends – Raka, Nilesh, Jui and Shovon – on a long journey that goes wrong and Raka goes missing. Ushas will appear as the protagonist – A Petni that Raka is tormented on his way back.
“As a viewer, I have always loved watching horror films. Back in college, after my parents left for work, I would draw the curtains and close the doors to watch these movies. It has been an exciting journey from my audience to playing this role,” shares Ushas.
He also adds that he didn’t think twice before saying yes to the script. “There’s not a lot of research on horror Bengali Web the world. I think it will intrigue the audience a lot. Moreover, this is not just a horror film. It has a social message at the end and also contains elements of a suspense thriller and a murder mystery,” she adds.
The web series will release on November 17 and is written by Padmanabha Dasgupta. It also stars actors Jasmine Roy and Kanchan Malik.
“Although I am not superstitious, I believe that there are positive and negative energies around us. Although I haven’t had any paranormal experiences, these energies are definitely there,” Ushas concludes.
