When Brian Cox joined the new reality competition series 007: The Road to a Millionhe admitted that he thought he was signing up for something a little different.
During Tuesday’s episode of Tonight showthe Succession “I thought it was the new James Bond,” the star told host Jimmy Fallon.
“So I said, ‘Oh, finally they’re going to cast me in a James Bond movie,'” he continued. “I thought: Yes, of course!”
But to Cox’s disappointment, he soon learned that “there was no script and there was no James Bond movie.”
He added: “For many years, I thought you know I would love to be in James Bond. It would be really interesting. And I thought this was my moment, but it wasn’t. Instead, he played the role of game controller and coordinated the series’ challenges 007: The Road to a Million.
The competition series follows nine pairs of ordinary people who embark on a global adventure through various Bond-inspired challenges, for a chance at a cash prize.
“It was fun,” Cox said once filming was over. “You know, I like to control people, so that’s what I did.” He also added that it was “touching to see” one of the couples on the show find “a new connection in their marriage because suddenly they are able to trust each other after so many years.”
As for who will replace Daniel Craig as the next 007, it will be a while before fans know.
