Tulkaram’s first album has arrived in Dhaka!

Tulkalam released their self-titled debut album on October 12, claiming that their songs have a musicality that transcends genres.

Dhaka has a long tradition of producing experimental music in various genres. One such band is ‘Tulkalam’, who released their self-titled debut album on October 12th at Niketon’s ‘The Junction’.

The band consists of Danny Amin on vocals, Faria Urfas Saeed on drums, Azhar Khan and Naushad Ali Hussain on guitars, and Mustafa Haq on bass.

“Our songs are inspired by real-life struggles and resilience. Our songs fuse folk, poetry, rock, and disco into a sound that defies classification. This is perhaps our 5. It reflects the fact that people come from completely different musical backgrounds,” Naushad explained.

Their backgrounds resonate with their music, and their attempts to combine different genres give them the opportunity to be storytellers as well as musicians, and the band members are purposefully moving in that direction. is.

Naushad further explained the origins of the band. “The band’s name derives from life’s unexpected twists and turns, and serves as a reminder of resilience and creativity. Fundamentally, our band’s philosophy is to support people, especially those like us. In a chaotic city, things don’t always go as planned.”

“And just like people do, you have to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move on with your life. And our way of dealing with that is through music, through Tulkaram. ”

It is not easy for most debut artists to put together an album when they are focused on releasing singles, but Tulkaram did the opposite. It took two years to complete the album, and there were some great moments and some bad times in that time.

“Obviously the high point for all of us is the moment we launch this album. The feeling of finally getting on stage during the launch and playing the songs and how people got excited about our music was unparalleled. I have no feelings,” Naushad told The magazine. business standard.

For Tulkaram, the lowest point came in October last year. Just as their song was gearing up for release, Cyclone Citran stormed into their recording studio. “We ended up moving to another studio, where we lost at least six months before we started working again,” he said of the band’s highly demoralizing setback.

As far as album launches go, the show was very intimate. The energy from the audience was good and almost everyone seemed to be enjoying the music. It turned out that the people who helped put on the show were a close-knit group. Comedian Bipro opened the show with a strong political joke and also touched on “nepotism”.

In the middle of playing ‘Tomake niye lekha’ or ‘Jeo na’, the band paused and wished the photographer a grand ‘Happy Birthday’.

Tulkalam’s music can be streamed on music platforms such as Spotify, YouTube, Deezer, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. Tulkaram are now ready to take to the stage, perform and take their songs to a wider audience.

“We are just getting started, so we have to take it step by step, juggling different aspects of music, being grateful to be able to do any of them right from the beginning,” Naushad concluded.
