Akshay Kumar’s film OMG 2 has started distribution on Netflix. The actor revealed in an interview that the film is actually made for children but received an “Adults Only” certificate from the censor board. He also shared that the film is based on a real incident where a child was expelled from school.
Akshay stated that when he makes films with social themes, he doesn’t do it for financial goals. He sees it as a way to give back to society. He mentioned that he could earn three to four times more by making mainstream films, but he chooses to focus on films with social messages like “Padman,” “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha,” and “Airlift.”
Furthermore, Akshay asked if anyone has ever made a movie about masturbation and sex education, indicating that OMG 2 tackles these subjects in a father-son story aimed at teenagers.
The actor also mentioned that the Netflix version of OMG 2 is the same as the one shown in theaters and that he chose to respect the censor board’s certificate by not airing an uncensored version on OTT.
Towards the end of the interview, Akshay revealed that the story of OMG 2 is based on a real-life event where a student was caught and expelled from school.
Overall, OMG 2 seems to be a film with a social message that is intended for children but received an Adults Only certificate.
