TV shows are introducing a lot of new content
mumbai: Gone are the days when the small screen was only for saas-bahu dramas and melodrama sequences. Actress Monica Khanna, who will be seen in the show ‘Ikk Kudi Punjab Di’, said there are a lot of new things to watch on the small screen today.
“Television shows have introduced a lot of new content, which has given actors more scope to play different roles. Creators are commendable for their efforts in introducing fresh ideas on television. Some of these new concepts will succeed and others will fail, but this process of trial and error will help you understand what your audience really wants.” says.
She added, “Each show typically has a research team that collects feedback from local viewers to gauge how viewers are reacting to the story. This is a positive aspect for the industry as it ensures that the content matches the viewer’s preferences.”
It’s a great time to be on TV, she says, adding: “With so much new content out there, it provides a lot of opportunities for both established and aspiring actors to showcase their talents. However, many actors aspire to play such roles, so getting lucky with challenging, performance-oriented characters is very important. It can be disappointing for those who don’t get these opportunities. But a TV show can’t go on for many more years. “One downside is that the lifespan of television shows has become shorter in recent years, with many series ending after only a few months. This can be discouraging, especially if the actors and production team have just established a connection with the audience. “Striking the balance of a show running for at least a few months could be beneficial to the actors, cast, production company, and staff as a whole,” she says.
