Netflix opens immersive squid gaming experience in Los Angeles

Anyone who’s been thinking about getting in on the squid game is about to make their wish come true thanks to a new experience opening soon in Los Angeles, California, courtesy of Netflix.

In a new post from Tudum via Hollywood Reporter, Netflix announces plans to release an “immersive experience” based on the hit Korean series for those willing to pay to travel to Los Angeles in December Did. The experience, titled “Squid Game: The Trial,” will take place inside the Television City complex starting December 6th, with tickets going on sale October 11th starting at $39. Open weeks run Wednesday through Sunday, but no end date has been set for the experience as of this writing.

It looks like Netflix is going all-in on this experience, and will include “high-intensity contests” that guests can participate in, without the risk of death, of course. A masked “frontman” who serves as the main villain of the series greets those entering Television City to participate in the experience. You can also enjoy the “Night Market” where you can find food, drinks, and shops inspired by squidfish.

Netflix has previously used the series’ popularity to create similar experiences for other series, including Bridgerton and Stranger Things. Stranger Things, in particular, features mazes based on the series’ four seasons and has become a staple of Universal Studios’ Halloween horror movies.

But in the case of Squid Game, Netflix isn’t the first company to offer some kind of experience inspired by the show. One of the most famous following the series’ Netflix premiere was held by YouTuber and influencer James Mr. Martin. The November 2021 Beast Donaldson had 456 contestants competing for $456,000.
